DoseMe to Sponsor the 4th Annual Middle Tennessee Antimicrobial Stewardship Symposium
In this article:
This year, DoseMe will be sponsoring the 4th Annual Middle Tennessee Antimicrobial Stewardship Symposium at Belmont University in Nashville, TN on Friday, January 31, 2020.
The main goal of the symposium is bringing together key stakeholders and practitioners in Antimicrobial Stewardship to discuss ways to improve appropriate antimicrobial use and mitigate their risks.
Vancomycin Dosing Therapeutic Guideline Updates
The anticipated update to the vancomycin dosing therapeutic guideline recommends a shift from the monitoring of trough levels to targeting area under the curve (AUC) for one of the most commonly used antibiotics in hospitals today.
The suggested change to AUC-based dosing strategies of vancomycin will be a significant workflow change for all facilities currently dosing vancomycin. DoseMe will showcase DoseMeRx – a comprehensive vancomycin dosing software allowing calculation of an individualized AUC from just one drug level.
Our clinical pharmacy team compiled a list of vancomycin dosing literature summarizing research evaluating AUC-dosing strategies, intended to serve as a reference point for healthcare providers looking for credible information on the topic.
Meet with Dr. Kristi Kuper, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Kuper, Director of Clinical Pharmacy at DoseMe, will be demonstrating how DoesMeRx supports the optimization of vancomycin dosing and simplifies the transition to AUC-based decision making for vancomycin monitoring.
She recently published an article on how pharmacists and healthcare providers can prepare for the anticipated changes to the vancomycin dosing guideline. Topics include:
- The proposed new vancomycin guidelines: what’s changing?
- The benefit of Bayesian dosing for vancomycin optimization —features and benefits
- What should we be doing now to prepare for AUC-based dosing?
If you would like to learn more about how DoseMe can support your transition to AUC-based vancomycin dosing, please visit our booth or get in touch.
